Training the Next Generation of Community Health Workers
The Promotor Learning Institute at Latino Health Access provides comprehensive training and support for Community Health Workers (CHW) and Promotores, recognizing them as essential experts in addressing health inequities and improving community well-being.
Our Approach
We use a participatory, culturally rooted methodology that builds on the lived experiences of the community. Through popular education and dialogue, our training encourages reflection, creativity, and practical action.
Core Training Program
- π 40-Hour Foundation Training: Covers 12 essential CHW competencies, aligned with California's CHW Certificate requirements
- π οΈ 40-Hour Practicum: On-the-job training at your organization or with experienced promotoras in-house
- π― Competencies include: Communication, Outreach, Education, Advocacy, SDOH, Assessment, Navigation, Research, and more
